Founded in London in 1995 as a private members’ club for people in the creative industries, Soho House & Co has since opened clubs across Europe and North America, as well as restaurants, cinemas, workspaces, spas and bedrooms. Miami Design Agenda met Soho House in South Beach: a restored art deco building featuring 50 rooms over 15 floors, Main Pool, Beach Club, Club Bar, Screening Snug, Library, Ocho with 8th floor plunge pool, Cecconi’s, Penthouse, Cowshed Relax and Cowshed Active.

In keeping with the other kids on the block, Soho Beach House is in a restored Art Deco building on Miami Beach. And it’s not just a hotel. In line with the Soho ‘House’ concept, which is a ‘home from home’ for creative types, Soho Beach House is a club for members invited to join just their ‘local’ club or be a member of all 12 houses dotted around the globe.
SLEEPING
At the Soho Beach House a room with a view is a must and between the 9th an 14th floors are six beachside rooms that open out onto a breathtaking view of the ocean from two large terraces. And the bayside rooms aren’t too shabby either with views of the bay and Miami skyline.
EATING
With a variety of locations to eat throughout the hotel, it’s more a case of where than what. If you would like a view of the sea, for example, there is the Mexican street food-inspired Ocho taqueria and tequila bar on the eighth floor rooftop. For more atmospheric dining there is the hotel restaurant located in the garden under the shade of trees strewn with fairy lights. Or if you happen to be on the beach or by the rooftop pool and realise you can’t get up, there is a light menu available there too with waiter service.
DOING
If the vibrancy and excitement of Miami with its copious boutiques, flea markets, beaches and celeb-spotting opportunities doesn’t appeal, Soho Beach House can provide a similar variety of entertainment in the form of a 100ft rooftop pool; a Screening Snug for regular screenings and private hire; a library for eating, drinking and meetings; and a Cowshed Spa for treatments and exercise. And if you do fancy popping over the road there is a private stretch of beach with waiter service and sun loungers.
