Since Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink first opened in the miami design district in spring of 2007, diners have come to embrace and crave its refreshing combination of laid-back atmosphere and seriously good food, a neighborhood bistro that is the ultimate showcase for the type of cuisine that chef/owner Michael Schwartz does best – homemade, unpretentious, delectable, with an emphasis on great local ingredients. The restaurant is open seven days a week and serves lunch, an afternoon menu, dinner and brunch.
The main dining room and courtyard seat 100, and The Bar Room, an additional 16, with 24 more seats at a welcoming bar where guests can enjoy our Afternoon Menu including raw bar from 3pm-5:30pm Monday through Saturday. Sunday Brunch is where our small plates shine on a weekly-changing menu of savory and sweet including everything from breakfast pizza topped with a local farm egg and house smoked bacon to executive pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith’s playfully decadent childhood treats and lemon ricotta pancakes — it’s the perfect way to spend the last day of the weekend soaking up the shade-dappled sunshine, alfresco. The restaurant is located in the vibrant Design District neighborhood, fashion’s new playground in Miami. Find the restaurant on Facebook and follow on Twitter and Instagram @mgfd_mia.
This weekedn, with Memorial Day marking the unofficial start of summer, the season of picnics and barbecues is upon us. To celebrate, this June through August the Miami Design District and Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink are partnering on a three-event summer series that celebrates the season by reimagining a few of our favorite classic outdoor pastimes for a truly ‘Genuine’ experience.
“I love cooking outside and am super excited to break out the grills in Palm Court,” said Michael Schwartz, owner and executive chef of Michael’s Genuine. “Grilling is one of my favorite ways to cook and add deep layers of flavor to fresh ingredients. We’re approaching the menu and how the food’s coming out a little differently for each event, so there will be plenty of new things to try and ways to enjoy summer outside in the District.”
