Design Miami has a reputation to maintain  when it comes to partnerships and collaborations.  Each fair brings together the most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from around the world in celebration of design, culture and commerce. The galleries invited to exhibit in Design Miami deal  mainly in exceptional design objects from the advent of Modernism (circa 1900) to the present day, with select galleries specializing in outstanding 18th and 19th century antiques.

1 – Southern Guild

What makes us love Southern Guild so much is their unique taste for African art, propelling its artist-designers to make spirited, challenging and complex work. Its highly curated exhibitions have redefined global perceptions of African design and escalated its value on the international market. All products are made by skilled hands in limited runs, and sometimes only one of an item will ever be made. It was founded in 2008 and became the first African Gallery to present at Design Miami.

“South African design elicits an emotional response as
much as it invites you to think.”

2 – Victor Hunt

Their collection has grown throughout all object typologies, representing a carefully-curated collection of cutting edge contemporary design.

“We understand design-art as the grey zone between industrial design, crafts, architecture, sculpture, conceptual, installation and many other arts but applied to or at least suggesting objects of use – developed and manufactured with the utmost care.”

Opened in 1999, Galerie Kreo focuses on producing impressive design in collaboration with the world’s most relevant contemporary designers . Its limited edition, vintage lighting and furniture are the reason why they make it to our lists once again.
