[BDCK category=3 Keywords=”WB-ebooktopid100″][/BDCK]

The Banana Artwork has been the talk of the world during the famous Miami Art Week 2019. Art Basel Miami and Design Miami were the main events that concentrated on the trendiest artworks from prestigious artists. One artwork that really stood out throughout these days was definitely the Banana Artwork, named as Comedian. Today, Miami Design Agenda is about to introduce this eccentric artist, Maurizio Cattelan, that is behind some of the most original masterpieces.

Maurizio Cattelan is one of the most popular and controversial artists in the contemporary art scene. His playful and provocative use of materials, objects, and gestures set in challenging contexts forces commentary and engagement. Comedian stands as the latest and boldest creation of this artist, that made waves at this edition of Art Basel Miami, selling this Banana Artwork for $120,000!

He steps out of his comfort zone and takes everything from the real world of people and objects, and projects it into his works as an irreverent operation aimed at both art and institutions. One of his creations called “AMERICA, 2016-2017”, sat on an 18-karat golden toilet that really shooked the art and design community, creating a conversation about it.

Maurizio Cattelan is an Italian-based artist born in Padua in 1960, through his love for art and design took him to New York, where he lives and works at the moment. Cattelan got internationally known in New York with La Nona Ora (The Ninth Hour), a wax statue of Pope John Paul II hit by a meteorite, which was originally exhibited in 1999 at Kunsthalle Basel.

This recent Banana artwork was purchased for the surprising amount of $120,000, at the Galerie Perrotin, a Paris-based gallery that also shares a location in Miami, New York, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, and Shanghai. This amazing and prestigious gallery is the official gallery to commercialize Maurizio Cattelan’s artwork in Paris.

This artist is recognized for his satirical and controversial artworks and sculptures. Being an outside-of-the-box artist, he’s able to impress every art lover and disarm them with the most amazing works, that really represent an important subject. This Banana Artwork really took the art community by storm, and we can’t wait to see what he does next!
