From December 5-8th, Miami Beach Convention Center will bring an amazing art fair that’s recognized on an international level, the Art Basel Miami Beach. Occurring also in Basel and Hong Kong, now is the time for Miami Beach to shine, and bring you over 200 galleries and 4000 artists, from North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, to represent the modern and contemporary design.
Throughout the days of the Art Basel Miami Beach, there will be a massive showcase of paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, and editioned works of the highest quality that are on display in the main exhibition hall. Every attendee can find works from editioned pieces by young artists to museum-categorized masterpieces.
Art Basel is an international art fair that’s hosted annually in Basel, Switzerland; Miami Beach, and Hong Kong. The concept of this art fair was created in 1970 by Basel gallerists Ernst Beyeler, Trudl Bruckner, and Balz Hilt. Its purpose focused on the showcase of the work of emerging contemporary artists by bringing together galleries, collectors and members of the public.
This year there’s a special contribution of more U.S. and Latin American exhibitors than it has ever been. More than half of the exhibitors have bases in North and South America, providing what the organizers call a “unique overview” of the hemisphere’s art scene. Also, and for the first time, the event will also host a new “sector,” dedicated to large-scale works. Curated by Magalí Arriola, director of Mexico City’s Museo Tamayo, the Meridians sector will feature some 30 oversized pieces.
Also within this event, there are many other activities planned such as Art Kids, School Groups and Helpful Hints (for kids), guided tours, cultural institutions filled with opportunities of Modern and Contemporary art, bookstores and restaurants.
