Antonio Citterio is recognized as a top Italian architect, responsible for amazing and authentic projects, that stand out of any skyline. This time, the acclaimed architect embraced the challenge of creating an apartment building with stone and glass balconies, looking over the famous Miami Beach. Join Miami Design Agenda and get the exclusive details about this astounding project!

Meet the Arte Tower, Antonio Citterio’s debut project in the United States, with a 12-story residential tower, including 16 units located on a one-acre (0.4-hectare) plot in Miami Beach’s Surfside neighbourhood. The architect is the co-founder of the Italian studio Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and worked with Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design on the project.

The design for the Arte Tower was a merged partnership between Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design and Antonio Citterio when they first presented the design in 2016. As you can see. the result is an absolute masterpiece. The walls of the residences are glazed and detailed with bronze mullions that form a grid pattern across the surface.

Arte has an unusual yet original shape, which widens towards its centre and then narrow at its top, and is accentuated by glazed balconies with Roman travertine bottoms. The terraces form expansive outdoor living areas for each unit, which are in turn shaded by the floor above.

A model apartment in the building was furnished by Hallock Design to add to Citterio’s design. Finishes in the unit include travertine walls and tiling in the bathroom, a marble backsplash in the kitchen and wood-panelled walls and cabinetry. Large windows wrap around each of the apartment’s main living spaces to provide views of the ocean and city landscapes.

The indoor living spaces extend to the outside through large glass doors that open to the wood decks that extrude from the building’s exterior. Amenities of the building include an outdoor swimming pool and beachfront meditation pond. Inside there is a 75-foot-long (23-metre-long) swimming pool, several lounges, fitness centre, yoga studio and sauna room. What we can take from this project is that Antonio Citterio absolutely nailed it with is first US project!
